Cartographie des restes osseux et conservation différentielle dans l'amas coquillier d'Ouessant "Mez Notariou": du Bronze moyen à la période romaine

2008

This article addresses the impacts of differential preservation in an alkaline shell midden (fig. 1) overlying an acid soil which does not allow bone to survive. This midden accumulated over an extended period and displays unusual traits attributable to practices of a ritual nature (Le Bihan et Méniel, 2002). Excavation extended to approximately 1000 square metres (fig. 2). Bone was collected on a quarter-metre grid by individual context (fig. 3). Some 35,000 animal and bird bones were recovered; fish bones, which were very numerous, are presently still under study. Consideration of the entire bone assemblage (fig. 8) indicates that the principal deposition occurred along the SW/NE axis of …

Submersed in the water, buried in the ground: comparative studies on metal assemblages and single finds from french Iron Age non-funerary contexts (V…

2020

Metal hoards are emblematic discoveries of European protohistoric societies and therefore an extremely dynamic research theme. However, even though there are many synthetic studies concerning Bronze Age practices, they are much less frequent concerning Iron Age deposits. In fact, since 1995 (Kurz 1995), no synthetic inventory on this subject had been carried out despite the regular increase in the number of discoveries since the development and multiplication of preventive archaeological excavations. Under these conditions, it seemed important to update the data and this led to the completion of a master's degree on this subject in 2011 (Le Cozanet 2011). Since then, our research hasn‘t cea…

2019

At present there is no study taking into account these classe of containers, in different materials and in such a vast geographical area. It is necessary to relate the different productions of these classe of vases, from prototypes to local imitations, in order to understand the role of these products in similar or different contexts. The objective is to approach the contacts between Italy, the Mediterranean and the northern Alpine communities from different aspects:- first of all from the productions and the technical aspects,- then by the identification and in-depth study of the local imitations of these receptacles,- second, by the circulation of imported objects (routes and nature of tr…
